No I couldn't answer this one!

While hugging Ghadi the other day he looked at me and asked:
"mom, why do people close their eyes while hugging each others?"
silence...
I just looked at him and hugged him more...and more.. and more
closing my eyes...
 feeling all his love deep in my heart...

Typical Conversation with a 6 year old?

Sary's nursery and Ghadi's summer camp happen to be at the same location, so I drove them both every morning for one whole month f July and I can say I really had great company while driving.

We opened all kinds of conversations,
we talk often about road signs and Ghadi was helping me control speed limit spotting all the different signs on our way.

He asked me the other day:

- can we drive on the speed of 4?

- You mean 40?

- No 4

I said yes we can but that would be driving like a turtle

He gazed then asked:

- If we remove the turtle shell then it would walk much quicker?

- That makes sense

- And it could climb trees

- Ehm..we can’t be pretty sure they could

- but how do turtles speak with each others?

- They definitely have their own language, every animal has its own communication method

- But we can’t understand it

 - Aaah, but you know, long time ago, there was a king, he was a very good person obeying Allah and so he was granted the ability to understand animal languages!

He could talk with birds and listen to ants

- Did he die?

- Well sure he did, that was really long time ago

- Like 200 ago?

- No, it was before 200, maybe 1000 years ago

- In what country?

- In Palestine

- Was there many people back then?

- Yes but not as much as now

- How many people were there in Lebanon?

- Maybe 10,000

- And now?

- around 4 million!

- Waw that’s too much! But china has the highest number of people

- Yes true

- And china is the biggest country

- No, we agreed before when we looked at the map that Canada and Russia are bigger

- Yeah

- but why there are more people in China than in Russia or Canada?
- It’s because of the weather..It’s very cold and lands are mostly covered in ice all year long

- Why?

- Ah because that part of earth is far from the sun and stays cold.. just like the Antarctic

- Mom but why the Antarctic is that far? And why is it always icy?

- Ah my beloved, here we are...(dropping him at destination)...have a nice day!!!!!! 
surreal...that conversation was just surreal ...

What's the best part in a Veggie Soup? - according to Ghadi

During the last 2 weeks, Ghadi had school vacation and he had to stay home since my mom was also away, visiting my siblings abroad...
staying home means having to come up with new activities every day and doing more effort to ensure he's having good times during his free time, and it also means, preparing his daily meal. (which is mom's mission during school days!)
so couple days ago I made vegetables soup, kids usually eat it at mom's...
so Ghadi was eating when he suddenly asked me:
- mom it seems u didn't eat enough vegetables when you were a kid?
I was kind of offended and said: of course I did, why do you think I didn't?
and he replied in his soft convinced tone: because you are too soft mommy!
- ???
- look at your skin and your hands, very soft...unlike you, dad must have been eating lots of fruits when he was a kid... you always say that this stuff gives us the vitamins to grow and build a good body!
I sighed...
 Then I had to introduce human physiology and explain the anatomical differences between men and women... and sometimes, while explaining such stuff, you don't really know when to stop, what is the limit that his brains can handle, is it right or wrong to go through details...and say terms...
after a while, he didn't seem convinced though...
- so all moms have soft hands?
- ....I suppose so...
-...hmm... and mom why didn't you put meat in our vegetable soup?
still surprised by the shift in his questions I answered without thinking:
- because this is "Vegetables Soup!"
- but teta (grandma) adds meatballs when she makes this soup
(now more surprised):
- really? but it is supposed to be only vegetables, that's why it's called veggie soup!
- u know mom? ... well, the best part about vegetables soup, is meatballs...

waw... thank you Ghadi for enlightening me...
so the next time you make a vegetable soup for your kids, think MEATBALLS!

Now Ghadi is a little bit concerned by the  his Grandfather.
actually my father passed away 8 years ago. and when he saw his photo in my mother's room he knew it's my dad, who passed away long time ago...
end of story? nooo, just the beginning:

- why did he die?
- all people will die someday
- nooooooo....

a week later:
-How did my grandfather die?
- he was old
- and why did he die?
- ...
because he got ill (not lying though, my dad had cancer)
-was he shot?
-???? (rolling eyes)
of course not!

and just yesterday he knew that our neighbor/cousin/friend N.M is pregnant, I told him that his friend will have a new baby brother or baby sister...
-why? where is the baby?
- it's still a small baby in her tummy...

- no (yes, simple and plain answer)

- Ah mon petit...
  en Arabe, c'est " Al Dunia"
- oui, mais c'est quoi?
-mmmmmm.......

I love my 4 years old-boy's questions!
I mean, when was the last time you were asked to define "the world"????
this is really challenging and cute...
I freak out thinking of way more complicated terms he would ask about...
